SPEECH SERVICES

Brennan Speech Services, Ltd. and Smarty Party are now enrolling children with speech and language needs for therapeutic playgroups. Therapeutic groups are designed to supplement individual therapy by creating a language rich environment for bridging the gap between individual therapy and a standard classroom. These social groups provide children with an exciting and fun structured play setting in which they can develop new skills and practice recently acquired skills. All groups are led by Colleen Brennan, M.S. CCC-SLP with a curriculum designed to incorporate multiple opportunities for practicing receptive and expressive communication skills. Colleen will be joined by Jennifer Toomey, M.Ed. Curriculum and Instruction or Jolene McMahan, M.A. Clinical Psychology. Caregivers are encouraged to participate in order to learn indirect speech and language stimulation techniques and to provide group leaders with their own expertise regarding their children.

If a child is seen regularly by a speech language pathologist, goals will be developed through the child’s current treatment plan. If a child has not received a speech and language evaluation, one can be provided by Brennan Speech Services, Ltd. Each group will include no more than six children in order to maintain a ratio of one professional to three children.

Therapeutic play dates are also available for families looking for social dyads addressing their child’s communication needs.
